The Lincoln Red breed had a successful sale thanks to David and Kate Turner’s Tone Park stud, which offered and sold seven bulls to a top of $7000, averaging $4357. It was the last bull listed in the catalogue that was brought forward to headline the Lincoln Red section and be offered first, after a special request from a buyer. Buyers quickly found out why, after Tone J7 entered the ring with ease, demonstrating its powerful constitution and muscling which drove prices skyward from keen bidding competition. Bidding from the other side of the country, Guy Bennett, Ferndale stud, Nethercote, New South Wales, was on the phone and instructed Landmark agent Adam Becker to place the last $7000 bid to secure the top sire. Mr Bennett said he had seen a number of photos of the outstanding sire and had already purchased an exceptional heifer from Tone Park at last year’s Sydney Royal Show. “The bull was of similar breeding and I didn’t think twice about the purchase,” Mr Bennett said. “He has an excellent temperament and very sound structure which really appealed to me. “I have absolute confidence in the product that the Turner family produce.” Sired by Tone F9 (AI) (P) and out of Tone A30 (P), Tone J7 was a beautiful dark red sire with an excellent topline, ideally suited to produce replacement heifers for the Bennett’s operation. It was the only purchase the Bennett’s made at the sale, while SR & DM Lee Steere, Boyup Brook, were the only buyers to take home two Tone Park bulls for $3000 and $4750. Other clients taking home one bull included TS McIntosh, Youngs Siding, who paid $4250 for their share of Tone Park genetics, as did M & V Connor, Manjimup. VA & AJ Blechynden, Manjimup, paid $3750 for their bull and Neil Derrick, Boyup Brook, secured the last Tone Park sire for $3500.
